All Girls Are Angels
All girls are Angels
even if they forget sometimes.
Even if they fall and bruise their knees,
and wake with puffy, sleepless eyes.
The world will try with all its might
to make an Angel believe
she isn’t deserving of her light.
The boys won’t choose her,
the ones she trusts may turn away,
but the ember in the center of her heart remains aflame.
It’s a cruel world to be born into,
to arrive in and not be valued
for what’s within.
To feel when she is speaking
that no one is really
listening in.
An Angel becoming
is not a girl lost to the world.
Every door closed
is an answer within revealed.
What she may find
is that being an Angel is both
soft and sweet,
but Angels also know
how to carry a sword
and speak the truth,
without apologies.
To be a girl in this world
is to learn how to fight —
how to do it anyway,
even with their lies echoing
in your mind.
To become what you are
is to remember what you were
before you began —
to remember the place above you left
and the reason you chose this world
again.
To know
you are both
indestructible and divine,
and to carry with you
the memory
of all you were,
and all you’ll become in
perfect time.
